  1. Optical Maintenance Technician

    Primary Focus:

    Ensure all equipment is safe to operate running quality product.  Repair optical disc equipment to maximize up-time.  Ensure that the PM schedule and inventory of spare parts is well maintained.

     Responsibilities:

    • Troubleshoot/adjust/repair CD/DVD and their peripheral equipment as needed. Keep accurate repair logs accessible to other CD staff and management for reference purposes.
    • Implement all maintenance and calibration activities associated with optical disc replication and auxiliary equipment.
    • Support and assist with production in maintaining process yield and throughput.
    • Maintain a clean room environment, reduce contamination.
    • Ensure proper technique and protocol is followed by each operator. Apply training and corrective action as required.
    • Provide comprehensive advanced troubleshooting and PM training to selected molding/mastering staff. Monitor performances/yields of all CD and DVD equipment. Forward reports to management as required.
    • Maintain contact with equipment manufacturers for all technical issues.
    • Maintain/monitor spare parts log. Order parts as required.
    • To operate molding equipment if/when required by production
    • Various other duties as assigned.

    A certificate or degree in (mechanical/electrical) engineering or equivalent work experience within a related field is required. Three years experience in a related field an asset.

    Excellent communication skills, (20/20 vision). This position requires good English written and verbal communication skills, technical problem solving and a “no-quit” attitude.  Computer skills include word processing, spreadsheet and electrical/mechanical and process schematic interpretation.

    Must be able to work the afternoon shift  – 3pm to 11pm, however training will be provided during the day.

  2. Silkscreen Operator

    A manufacturing company located in Thornhill, Ontario has an immediate vacancy for a Silkscreen Operator.

    Primary Focus:

    This position is responsible for the effective operation of the Silkscreen machines and to ensure maximum productivity and quality standards are met. 

    Responsibilities: 

    • Setting up and running of press.
    • Confirm information on dockets (colour match, title/version #).
    • Assess print quality and determine acceptability. Complete orders in a timely fashion as set on schedule.
    • Report irregularities with print to supervisor immediately.

    Experience/Requirements:

    Previous experience in a related field is an asset.

    Employee must be fluent in both written and verbal English.  Strong problem solving abilities and the ability to maintain workflow is necessary.  Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and must be detail oriented.

    Must be able to colour match, must have experience operating presses, silkscreen, flexograph, or offset.  Some print background is advantageous.

    Must be able to work the afternoon shift  – 3pm to 11pm.

  3. Preflight Operator/Graphic Designer

    You possess a sound knowledge of the Adobe Suite, Quark and Corel.

    Previous experience in printing (not digital, copier etc.) is a definite asset.  Any experience in making, stripping, and understanding the nature of film would be great.  You must be an independent individual with an ability to multitask, and a customer service focus.

    A technical degree in computer graphics or equivalent in work experience is mandatory, as well as minimum 2 years experience preferably acquired in a graphic and print environment.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles.
    • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
    • Use computer software to generate new images.
    • Mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts to prepare layouts for printer.
    • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.
    • Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design.

  4. Molding Operator

    Primary Focus:

    This position is responsible for the effective operation of the injection molding machines and to ensure maximum productivity and quality standards are met.

     Responsibilities:

     

    • Ensuring that machines and work areas are clean and safe at all times. This also means cleaning and changing masks and targets in the metalizing unit.
    • Keeping up to date on the operation of all the auxiliary equipment (i.e. compressors, chiller and vacuum).
    • Changing stampers, verifying information on docket, master and stamper.
    • Troubleshooting simple maintenance issues on equipment.
    • Verifying quality of CD and DVD by using CATS and Eclipse as well as by conducting visual and UV light and audio checks (as needed) on product and by conducting file comparisons and verifications against master.

    Education/Professional Development Requirements:

    A certificate or degree in (mechanical/electrical) engineering or equivalent experience within a related field is an asset.

    Technical Competencies Required:

    This position requires extensive technical problem solving (process, hardware and software) written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills include word processing, spreadsheet and electrical/mechanical and process schematic interpretation.

    Training will be provided during the day, however the employee must be able to work the afternoon shift – 3pm to 11pm.
